‘Flying’ above Singapore

flyer-01.jpg

I was at Singapore Flyer last Thursday attending the National Infocomm Competition 2007 Awards Ceremony. The top 5 schools were invited, and my school got 5th, so I was pretty bummed about that.

*curses the people walking away with PSP’s, Wii’s, iPod Touches, Handphones, A TRIP TO AMERICA etc. etc.*

But hey, I still got to ride the Singapore Flyer for free, so it wasn’t so bad.

At the bottom of the huge wheel is this artificial garden thingy by Yakult and they have names of a lot of the plants so little kids can learn about plant names XD

But other than plant names they also had these little rock pools with that white smoke thingy coming out of them, which I thought were really cool ^^

The security checks before they let you up the wheel was like at the airport, they had metal detectors and all. Although that’s actually a good thing, with terrorists running about everywhere and whatnot.

Next is just picture spam of the view =P

You can see our ‘durians’ and the floating stage they used for NDP last year.

Our CBD. It was a particularly rainy and cloudy day so the view wasn’t that nice.

Massive construction underway here for the IRs.

People getting off the ride. Just thought the structures looked pretty cool and futuristic =P

Well it was a pretty interesting experience, but by interesting I mean the building and the structures looked futuristic and cool, not the ride itself. I sure wouldn’t pay $30 to ride this thing, I mean, it’s not like the view of Singapore is even particularly nice! If we were a huge city and had a great view like that of Hokkaido at night or at least Tokyo maybe there’d be more things to see. But up there it was like, the ride took half an hour and all you see is the same things.

Final Comment:
Slightly more interesting than an amusement park ferris-wheel. Slightly.

I wonder if taking it at night or in the day would be better?

I’m not exactly sure.. all you’d be able to see at night are lights…but that could be pretty nice as well.

Wow, you never get this scenery when you are in the tallest building of singapore

tj han – RI got first for the Secondary School category, RJC got second for the JC category. DM is in RJC if I’m not wrong right? They got Wii + handphone for first and PSP + iPod Touch for second.

Rokku – Lol yeah, although it isn’t really that great.

Hmm… Either Akismet ate my comment or I didn’t click submit…

Made some comment about where DM got the PSP and IPod Touch he was selling… >.<

At least you got to ride in it for free. Mere mortals whose schools didn’t even participate have pay $30 per ride.
