The NHK Kouhaku ended in the white team winning. Boo!
Well at least it was entertaining enough for me not to have wasted 4 hours. Aragaki Yui was there in a really nice kimono and she looked soooo cute! Angela Aki was awesome as usual (does she bring that huge Steinway & Sons piano everywhere she goes or do all concert halls have one of those?), Leah Dizon was sexy but can’t sing very well, BoA had a new hairstyle – a ponytail (!!!) – and looked so different I couldn’t recognize her at all. AKB48’s performance was awesome but really really short, the members are pretty cute and their outfits were really good. Shoko Nakagawa sang Sorairo Days and wasn’t very good honestly, Mika Nakashima is really tall and thin and looked kinda like an elf, and the Hello! Project team consisting of Morning Musume, Berryz Kobu and C-ute were cute but couldn’t sing very well either. That’s for the girls.
SMAP was weird as usual, they sang a bit of DEAR WOMAN then their Dangan Fighter song which sounds a bit like some kids song. Kobukuro sang together with ayaka and were really good. w-inds, EXILE, TOKIO and Sukima Switch were pretty good as well. I missed Gackt while taking a bath T_T He was supposed to sing Returner, which is a relatively nice song. I didn’t really know much of the other guys performing.
I had to sit through a lot of old singers singing old Japanese songs as well, but they weren’t that bad.
At the end the Tokyo Tower was lighted up all white instead of red and white to show which team had won. Well it was expected that the white team would win; they already had more votes even before the Kouhaku began.
And that’s enough about the Kouhaku, this is supposed to be a New Year post.

New Year Resolutions! I’m sure everybody has written theirs already, if not, get writing!
I don’t usually write them since I never follow them anyway, but I’ll make an effort this year ^^;
1. Save Money! (Then spend it all on a PS3 =P)
2. Study really, really, really hard. O Levels next year. *shudders*
3. Get into a good JC.
4. Continue learning Japanese.
That’s basically what I think is most important. Angela Aki’s awesome piano playing makes me want to take up piano, so I might give it a shot as well. Chances are I’ll just give up after a few minutes lol.

Okay I said no more of the Kouhaku but here are the PVs of a few of the nice songs that were performed.
SMAP – 「弾丸ファイター (Dangan Fighter)」
Doesn’t seem very nice at first, but grows on you. And Takuya Kimura!!
コブクロ (Kobukuro) – 「蕾 (Tsubomi)」
Beautiful song.
AKB48 – 「会いたかった (Aitakatta)」
Lots of cute girls in school uniforms dancing = WIN
I wanna go to their theatre in Akihabara next time I’m in Japan =x
Happy New Year too.
On an unrelated note, you’re the third person I’ve seen who has resolved to save for a PS3.
Happy New Year!
Having the AT2 Hymmnos Concerts blaring out at full blast with the neighbors wondering what the hell kind of music I’m playing makes for a very amusing and entertaining way to usher in and celebrate the New Year. This is awesome!
AT2 Hymmnos Concerts?
Haven’t heard of it before, but I guess it must be really weird music?
It’s the Hymmnos tracks from Ar tonelico 2, the PS2 game by Banpresto and Gust. It’s weird because the lyrics are composed of Japanese, and Hymmos, an original language created solely for Ar tonelico.
Hence, while you’ve got awesome vocal hymms as songs, you’ve also got people wondering just wtf they’re saying.
Again, Happy New Year!
Happy 2008 =) And good luck in your O Levels.
Happy New Year! Hope you can get your PS3.
Happy 2008! Never give up for your dreams!
*Saves picture into PC.
