Sekai wa、 Utsukushii deshou?

They are currently promoting this show like crazy over in Japan. As you can probably already guess from the title, it’s a Korean drama series. In English it is known as either ‘The Legend’ or ‘The Story of the First King’s Four Gods’

Ads for this show are all over Japan - in magazines, posters, and TV. I saw talkshows showing previews of it almost every night when I was staying in Tokyo. The hype about this show is not all for nothing though, because it does look pretty awesome.

The story is about the 19th king of Goguryeo, which is the kingdom that Jumong founded (you’ll know who that is if you read the last post I made about a Korean drama series). The storyline seems horribly complicated and I don’t really know what it’s about, but it sure looks good from the trailer.

There are only two things I know about the cast - the main character is played by the famous obaasan killer Bae Yong Joon (if you’ve no idea who he is…well, then go google it =P) and the other thing is that there’s this really hot girl.

It only just finished airing in Korea, and is only starting in January 2008 on NHK’s BS2 (if memory serves) so it will probably only come to Singapore in a year’s time. If it comes, that is. But chances are quite high, since the ratings for this drama were pretty good.

Theme Song

This is the theme song of the drama, Love Song of A Thousand Years by Dong Bang Shin Gi (DBSK), Tohoshinki (東方神起） as they are known in Japan, or 東方神起 (TVXQ) for everywhere else. This song, as well as the soundtrack for the drama is composed by Joe Hisaishi, who also does the soundtracks for almost all Hayao Miyazaki films as well as many other drama series and movies.

I can’t wait until this show gets brought over. It doesn’t look particularly great from the previews that I’ve shown here, but those shown on TV in Japan really make it look like an awesome show.
