A pretty awesome episode this week – we finally get to know what happened with Nanaka, as well as why Yuzuki-sensei always gives out caramel.

Nanaka is being cold to Sana in school, and when she finally tells him the reason, he stupidly tries to explain it by comparing his embrace of Hoshino to the time when Nanaka accidentally hugged him during the festival, that they were just accidents.
This of course, makes Nanaka even angrier.

Back at home, Sana thinks of a secret postbox that he used to share with Nanaka when they were little, and decides to open it. A whole pile of letters spill out, including one with ‘tasukete’ written all over in red (blood?).
Sana then confronts Shuusuke, who tells him that while he was away, Nanaka’s house was caught in a fire and she was the only survivor. He also says that it seemed to be arson, but the arsonist was never caught.
While sitting in the playground, Yuzuki-sensei shows up and offers him a caramel. As it turns out, she gives out caramel because when she gave Sana a caramel in the past, he was inspired to try again.

Sana meets up with Nanaka and reveals that he heard about the fire. She is angry at first that when she was going through the most painful time of her life, he was making new friends and almost forgot about her. We then get a flash of Sana’s wristwatch, and he tries to say something but stops himself. In the end though, Nanaka starts crying and runs up into Sana’s arms, saying that she was always wishing that he would return and save her. To that, Sana says that they would be together no matter what.

We then get another scene of his wristwatch when he returns home and is on the phone with his mother.

With so much emphasis placed on Sana’s wristwatch this episode, the story behind it will probably be revealed in the next episode or two. And since there are only about five episodes left, I’m expecting the major plotline to kick in soon. What’s with the crazy cat-killing obaa-san? I can’t help but think that she might want to kill Nanaka and bury her under a tree to revive her dead daughter.
Nanaka still seems rather depressed from the preview of the next episode, and it seems like they are going to watch some sentai show or something. The previews for this show are rather misleading though.
A present from Nana-chan, methinks.
I’m quite sure that it’s not, since it she got a little unhappy during the pool episode when they were talking about it.
And in this episode when she said that Sana was making new friends she was probably referring to the watch.
