The first episode of Haruhi by Odex was shown on StarHub’s Channel 56 today. Well to be exact, it is showing. (As of time of writing, it’s about five minutes in)
And guess what. Odex copied a.f.k.’s subs wholesale. Okay, maybe not wholesale. More like very heavily referenced.
I can’t say I wasn’t expecting it though. I’m pretty sure there will be a lot of people ranting about this soon. What excuse will they give this time, I wonder?
I don’t have a problem with it though. If Odex just copied a.f.k.’s subs, it just means that we don’t have to get used to theirs/deal with lousy grammar. The mandarin dubs are pretty bad though. I’m not watching it anymore. XD

I’m thinking, transcript a.f.k’s subs, and then transcript Odex subs so we have definite proof.
They’ll reshow it at 9 on Ch 256 (which anyone who suscribes to Ch 56 should have.)

the only reason they would give when they are ask “why is it that your subs are so similar to fan-subs?” would be “Oh, the subs were given to another company to do for us. We have no idea how they did the translating etc. As for why during the QC no one check it, is because our team feels that it’s accurate enough.”
This is called “NOT MY FAULT!! I’M Innocent!” It’s forever not their fault, but our fault.
and I bet that there is only 1 or 2 people in odex who have at least a JLPT 2 cert or above. The rest just babelfished their scripts. Blah~~

I was pretty sure that Odex apologized for sub-contracting out previous subs and stated that all subs were done in-house after that.
